Leads and conversations

Moving from another CRM

Updated

Bring your contacts over from Follow Up Boss, kvCORE or a spreadsheet by saving them as a CSV file and importing it into Ostira.

Before you start: the free plan holds up to 25 contacts. If you're bringing more, upgrade first, or only part of your list comes over. See Plans and limits.

Move your contacts

  1. In your old CRM, use its contact export to save your contacts as a CSV file. For a spreadsheet, save or download it as CSV.
  2. Open the file and check that the first row holds column names.
  3. On Contacts, select Import CSV.
  4. Upload the file and check the matches in the Maps to column.
  5. Finish the import. Import contacts from a CSV file walks through each screen.

What Ostira can bring over

Ostira picks a field for each column by its name. Capitals, spaces and punctuation don't matter. You can change any match before you import.

Ostira field Column names it picks up
Full name Name, Full Name, Contact Name, Contact
First name First Name, First, Given Name, FName
Last name Last Name, Last, Surname, Family Name, LName
Email Any name with "email" in it
Phone Any name with "phone", "mobile" or "cell" in it
Tags (comma-separated) Tags, Tag, Labels
Lead Source Any name with "source" in it

Ostira has no place for other columns, such as addresses, birthdays, notes or stages. They're skipped, so keep your old export.

Things to know

  • One email and one phone per contact. If your file has several email or phone columns, Ostira picks the first one. You can map more than one column to Email or Phone, and Ostira uses the first one that isn't empty for each row.
  • Tags. Put several tags in one cell, split by commas or semicolons.
  • Lead sources. Names like Zillow, Realtor.com, Homes.com, Facebook, Instagram and Referral match Ostira's sources. Any other name becomes a new source.
  • Duplicates. A row whose email or phone already belongs to a contact, or to an earlier row in the file, is skipped. Importing the same file twice doesn't create doubles.
  • Opt-outs. Ostira can't read opt-out status from your file. After the import, turn on Do Not Contact for anyone who opted out in your old CRM. See Do Not Contact and unsubscribes.
  • Conversations. Ostira doesn't start conversations with imported contacts.

If rows don't come over, see CSV import errors.
